Loud music,
the wilderness,
ten friends,
late summer nights,
The freedom to live.
2am becomes
a time for swimming.
For bright floodlights
and extension cords
Bare skin casts shadows
on the still water;
an orange flow,
reflected.
I float above the waterfall.
Warned against snapping turtles,
smiling.
They whisper,
ten feet away.
We light up.
We are the night stars
at every laugh.
